Kaifeng
Kaifeng is over
2,700 years old, archeologists have found that Kaifeng's ancient
royal cities were piled up in four layers. Orderly from upper is
Zhou, Jin, Song and Tang. It's most prosperous period is the Northern
Song which lasted for 168 years. The famous painting "Riverside
Scene on Qingming Festival by Bian River" describes the vivid social
life at that time.
Song Du Yu Jie
Song Du Yu Jie (Imperial
Street of the Song Dynasty), the former Imperial Street, now called
Zhongshanlu Beiduan in Kaifeng City. It is 400 meters long and 30
meters wide. On both sides of the street are snack bars of various
flavors, New Year picture studios, and 32 shops selling antiques,
embroideries and silks.
Xiangguo
Monastery in Kaifeng
Located in Ziyou Lu
(Rd.), the monastery was first built in 555. The present halls,
namely, the Hall of Heavenly King, the Mahavira Hall, the Octagonal
Glazed-Tile Hall and the Scripture-Preserving Hall, are structures
of the Qing Dynasty.
