Changbai Mountains: The Crater Lake

    The Crater Lake, known as " the Heavenly Lake", was the creation of the volcano in 1702. It nestles on main peak of Changbai Mountain 2,691 meters above sea level with the lake surface some 2,155 meters above the sea. It is also a border lake between China and Korea.

The Songhua Lake

    Located 14 kilometers to the southeast of Jilin City, the scenic area covers 550 square kilometers. The mirror-like lake has crystal clear water and some small islands on it. Winter turns the trees along the banks of the Songhua River into a silvery world with the tree branches covered with snow crystals.
